Make-A-Wish Granted at Wheaton Mall 

On Monday, January 31,  Make-A-Wish America along with help from the team at Westfield Wheaton Mall, granted a wish for local twelve-year-old Kaylee.  Make-a-Wish and Westfield were able to partner with some of Kaylee’s favorite stores and restaurants, providing almost $2,000 in gift cards and discounts on top of a shopping spree from Make-A-Wish.

Kimba Brown of Westfield Wheaton said, “it was honor to be chosen by Make-A-Wish to assist in granting a wish for a special child.  After some quick engagement with the Foundation to determine needs, the team set out laser focus to deliver the best wish day we possibly could. BIG THANKS to Macy’s, Finish Line, Cinnabon, Dick’s, JCP Penny, H&M, Aeropostale, Bath & Body Works, small business Hersheys Ice Cream and a few community partners for providing gift cards, discounts, and surprise & delights to make the day spectacular.”

Her schedule for the day:

  • 11:00am: Arrival at Security for sign-in (Greeted by MCP and Westfield management team).  “Surprise basket presented by MCP & Westfield present balloons, a basket and a $250 gift card
  • 11:15am: Macy’s (Presentation of Gift Card & basket  from General Manager)
  • 11:30am: JCP (Presentation of Gift Card  & basket by General Manager)
  • 11:45am: Bath & Body Works (Basket presented a gift & 20% off from General Manager)
  • 12:00pm: Hershey’s Ice Cream (Stop for a complementary sweet treat)
  • 12:15pm: Aero (Greeted by the General Manager and gave 20 % off shopping trip)
  • 12:45pm: Ardene (Greeted by the General Manager and gave 20 % off shopping trip)
  • 1:00pm: IHOP (Complimentary lunch with presentation of baskets; greetings from General Manager, team and mascot)
  • 2:45pm: H&M (Greeted by the personal shopper with 35% off shopping trip)
  • 3:15pm: Dick’s (Greeted by the team, personal shopper, balloons, posters, gift basket & a gift card towards shopping trip)
  • 3:45pm: Cinnabon (Stop for complementary sweet treat to-go)
  • 3:50pm: Finishline (35% discounted off shopping trip)
  • 4:05pm: Target (Presentation of Gift Card  & basket by General Manager & team)
  • 4:30pm: Farewell Presentation (Well wishes from Marketing Manager, presentation of acrylic painting don’t by Facility Manager, purple flowers presented by the Security team, 12- purple balloon release outside food court/entrance 7, and closing with an official MCPD escort home. (2 police cars and 2 police motorcycles followed our VIP home while in her Limo)

About the VIP: Kaylee is 12 years old and can be very shy. Her favorite color is purple, and her favorite animal is a llama. She likes to paint, draw, and go hiking. She likes the marvel movies. She enjoys going to the park and spending time with her family. One of the main things she is looking to get during her shopping spree is a new iPhone. She and her family would like to eat at the nearby IHop for lunch.
