UPDATED to reflect the man has died.
Around 6:11 PM Sunday, Montgomery County and Gaithersburg City Police Officers responded to the area of 14 South Frederick Avenue for a reported shooting.
Responders found a adult male in his 20s suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and died later Sunday at the hospital.
This is the second fatal shooting on that stretch of South Frederick Avenue since Friday. On Friday, Gaithersburg Street Crimes Unit Police Officers shot and killed a man who pulled a gun after fleeing from the Police Officers.
Sunday’s shooting occurred near a vigil for the man shot on Friday. The vigil had started around 4PM Sunday, and had been relatively calm in the two hours before the shooting. Gaithersburg Police said they were aware of the vigil, and had officers in the area at the time of the shooting.
