Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services responded to a fire Thursday evening around 7:30pm at Mayorga Organics (1029 E Gude Dr) in Rockville.
The fire was located inside a roaster machine and was contained to piping. There was light smoke in the building and several batches of burnt coffee.
There were no injuries reported, according to Chief Spokesperson for MCFRS Pete Piringer.
Mayorga announced last year that they will be moving to a new location in Baltimore, although that move is not expected to take place for another year or two.
From a March 2021 article:
Currently at 1029 E Gude Dr, the new location will be a 120,000 sq. ft. building at 901 W. Ostend St. in the Pigtown area of Baltimore. Mayorga Organics is expected to finalize the purchase of the new building by March 16th. The move is not expected to take place for another 2-3 years.
On the move to Baltimore, owner Martin Mayorga is quoted as saying “I love the concept of going to a city that I think has just been overlooked by people and ignored by investors. I would like to go in there and actually make a positive impact.”
Mayorga has had a location in Rockville since 1997.
