Mother/Daughter Duo Behind Adventures in Kindness Movement Release Second Book
Twelve-year-old Sophia and her mother Carrie Fox, co-authors of Adventures in Kindness, are releasing a second edition of their book on December 15th.
Adventures in Kindness is an action/adventure book for kids ages 7-13 that includes, “50+ adventures designed to equip young readers to build their kindness muscles, while making a real and meaningful impact in the world around them.”
The book explores topics like “why gender pronouns matter and how to use them” and “supporting neighbors experiencing social isolation.”
“Talking about tough things with kids is tough,” said Carrie Fox. “Adventures in Kindness gives teachers and parents an entry point into bigger conversations, and it starts from a place that is not scary, but instead productive.”
There will be a free launch party this Sunday at Dawson’s. Details below:
Date: Sunday, December 12
Time: 3:30- 5 p.m.
Location: Dawson’s Market, 225 North Market Street, Rockville, Md.
What: Dawson’s Market and Adventures in Kindness unveils its kindness game where the community earns a chance at a $200 gift card to Dawson’s Market simply by completing acts of kindness listed on a game board. Participants can also complete a kindness craft to help them get started on their journey. The effort is in conjunction with Carrie and Sophia Fox a local mother-and-daughter duo behind the movement Adventures in Kindness aimed at fostering empathy and compassion with kids and empowering them to unpack social issues in their world.
Kindness on-site activities will be creating kindness rocks to include in holiday gifts for seniors and notecards of encouragement and thanks for teachers as part of the Small Things Matter program.
I’d love to connect you with the kindness team to talk about this Season of Kindness effort that runs through December 30, ways families can get involved and why it is important now more than ever to build kids’ kindness muscles.
Attached is more information about the kindness duo, their book and the experience the two have had leading kindness school assemblies nationwide promoting their mission. They donate the proceeds of their book and merch to nonprofits so this isn’t a book promo event.
