Here are five things to know for Thursday, June 2. They include graduation celebrations, reminders about COVID-19, free vaccination clinics and more.

  1. graduationGraduation Season is Underway
    More than 11,000 high school seniors have started receiving their diplomas during commencement exercises that began yesterday, June 1, and continue through June 14.

  2. Still Need a COVID-19 Shot? Need a Booster? They Are Free!
    Getting vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 remains the safest and best way to avoid getting sick from the virus. MCPS is continuing its partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services to provide multiple opportunities for adults or children to get the shot and/or stay up to date with their shots. It helps keep you and everyone around you safe!

  3. COVID-19 Positive Cases Are Still High in Montgomery County
    We are nearing the finish line for the 2021-2022 school year,and positive COVID-19 case rates remain high in our community. You can see the numbers on the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services dashboard.  Our community is in the “moderate” risk category. The Department of Health and Human Services strongly encourages (not requires) that you wear a mask, get tested when you have symptoms, use hand sanitizer/wash hands, and physically distance when possible.

  4. MCPS Maintains a Strong Commitment to Safety in Schools
    Interim Superintendent Dr. Monifa B. McKnight sent the following message to the community on Monday, May 30. The message discusses the district’s commitment to safety in MCPS, including the valuable partnerships with county police and training for staff.

  5. Find Mental Health and Wellness Resources Online
    MCPS is committed to the physical, social and psychological well-being of its more than 160,000 students and 24,000 employees.
