Here are nine things to know for Thursday, July 21. They include information about a new school fee payment system, important opportunities for community feedback, health and wellness service availability, information about student athletics, vaccinations and more.

  1. school cash onlineNew Online Payment System Available for School-Related Fees
    SchoolCash Online helps parents and guardians pay school-related fees — such as field trip costs — safely, quickly and easily. This service will increase efficiency and security by making payments directly into schools’ bank accounts and eliminating the need for teachers to handle money. The new system puts all school-related fees online so payments can be made using a credit card or e-check. Cash and check payments directly to schools are still an option.

  2. lunchApply Online Now for Free and Reduced Price Meals Benefits
    The application is now open for parents and guardians to complete and submit for assistance with school meals.   Families of students who may qualify for free or reduced-price meals can apply for this service. Eligibility is based on family size and gross income.

  3. All Together Now: Putting Our Students First
    MCPS is committed to providing opportunities for ongoing community engagement. In support of that commitment, the end-of-year survey deadline is now extended to July 29. Share your ideas about our district’s strengths, opportunities and priorities. The survey is available in multiple languages.

  4. Maryland State Department of Education Needs Your Input
    Help the Maryland State Board of Education and the Maryland State Department of Education shape the future of our public schools! Complete the Strategic Planning Survey and share the link with other parents and guardians. Your input will guide the development of a multi-year strategic plan and ensure every student in Maryland has excellent and equitable educational opportunities to help them realize their full potential.   6. Summer Services Available at All School-Based Health and Wellness Centers
    The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) operates 14 MCPS school-based health and wellness centers located in schools across the county. They provide a comprehensive range of services, including preventive medical health care, sick care, mental health, social services and other services that promote positive youth development in a familiar and friendly environment. Some services are available year-round and others during the school year.

  7. fairSave the Date: MCPS Back-to-School Fair to Be Held Saturday, Aug. 27
    All MCPS students and their families are invited to kick off the new school year at the Back-to-School Fair, which will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27 at Westfield Wheaton mall. Learn more about the event.

  8. Fall Athletics Registration and Information
    Parents and guardians can register their student-athletes for high school fall athletics using ParentVue. Resources to assist with the online registration process can be found here. Physical evaluations are required prior to the first day of fall season tryouts, Aug. 10, 2022; forms are available here. Resources in Spanish are available here.   9. School-Based Vaccination Clinics Continue this Summer
    MCPS, in partnership with DHHS, is vaccinating children aged 6 months to 5 years old at school-based vaccination sites. Learn more and make an appointment.
