Metro to Run Sunday Schedule on Thanksgiving, Nov. 24; Normal Service Friday, Nov. 25

Metro welcomes customers and visitors to the region to take Metro wherever your travels take you during the Thanksgiving holiday. On Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, Metrorail and Metrobus will operate on a Sunday schedule, with trains operating from 7 a.m. until midnight. MetroAccess customers may make a reservation to travel on the holiday; however subscription trips will be canceled.

The day after Thanksgiving, Friday, November 25, Metrorail will open at 5 a.m., closing at 1 a.m., and Metrobus and MetroAccess will operate normal weekday service.

Whether you are heading out of town or friend and family come to visit, Metro offers convenient access to airports and train travel via Blue Line to Washington Reagan National Airport, Silver Line to Washington Dulles International Airport; and Amtrak via Red Line at Union Station and Rockville, Orange Line at New Carrollton and Blue Line at King St-Old Town.

Customers may also use Metro’s trip planner tool to plan your travel by bus or rail for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Red Line every 10 minutes.
Blue Line Blue LineOrange LineSilver Line every 15 minutes.
Green Line every 8 minutes.
Yellow Line No service. Use Blue Line+ and Green Line

Off-peak fares will be in effect all day and parking will be free all-day at Metro owned parking garages and surface lots.

Friday, Nov. 25

Trains will operate from 5 a.m., closing at 1 a.m. serving all 97 stations with no scheduled track work.

Red Line every 10 minutes.

Green Line every 8 minutes.
Yellow Line No service. Use Blue Line+ and Green Line

Metrobus

Thursday, Nov. 24

Metrobus service will operate on a Sunday schedule. Routes that normally operate on Sunday will run; all other routes will not operate on the holiday. Schedules vary by route, check timetables for route-by-route information.

Friday, Nov. 25

Metrobus will operate normal weekday service. All routes that normally operate on weekdays will operate. Check timetables for schedule information by route.

MetroAccess

Thursday, Nov. 24

MetroAccess customers who wish to travel on the holiday may make a separate reservation online or call 301-562-5360 (TTY 301-588-7535). Scheduled recurring “subscription trips” are automatically canceled.

Friday, Nov. 25

MetroAccess will operate normal service, including subscription trips. Customers may also make a reservation online or by phone.

Fares on all regular route Metrobus service is $2; and is free when transferring to/from Metrobus.
