MoCo Resident Wins $48,000 Playing Keno at Bethesda Gas Station

A Chevy Chase woman is $48,000 richer after purchasing playing Keno at the Marathon gas station at 5143 River Road in Bethesda. Additional details below courtesy of the Maryland Lottery:
“She doesn’t play too often, a Chevy Chase resident told Lottery officials on Wednesday, but when she does, her game is always Keno. The fitness coach made it clear, though, that when she stopped for gas at a Marathon station in Bethesda earlier this week, a Keno ticket was the last thing she was thinking about.

“I saw the Lottery sign in the window as I was pumping the gas,” the Montgomery County woman explained. “Before I did, I had zero intention of buying a ticket.” A few minutes later, she was going about her day with a 10-spot Keno ticket for two drawings, which, with the Super Bonus prize multiplier added, cost her $18. It was only later when she scanned her ticket that she realized the return on her money made it a day she’d never forget.

“I didn’t believe it when I saw the $48,000,” the 47-year-old admitted. “I scanned it again and again. Then, I walked all the way around the store twice then back to the scanner to try it again.” When asked her reaction upon realizing that she’d really won, she told us, “I don’t know whether it was nerves or excitement, but I suddenly started sweating.”
She plans to set aside the bulk of her Keno prize for her children’s education, the happy woman reported. Also happy as a result of the $48,000 win is the management of W Express at 5143 River Road in Bethesda. The Montgomery County Marathon station will receive a $480 bonus from the Lottery for selling a winning ticket of $10,000 or more.
