A Silver Spring man is $50,000 richer after purchasing a winning lottery ticket for the November 5 Powerball drawing at the Upper Marlboro Xtra Fuel at 15009 Marlboro Pike in Prince George’s County. Full story below courtesy of the Maryland Lottery:
Charlie Ayoub is a Powerball fan who plays the game two to three times a week. His loyalty and persistence paid off on Nov. 5, when the Montgomery County resident won $50,000 with a $2 quick-pick ticket.“I have been playing both Powerball and Mega Millions for about 15 to 20 years. I like to play the games with the bigger prizes,” Charlie explained.
The Silver Spring man is a district manager whose job requires him to travel around the region. He estimated that he visits and plays at over 30 Lottery retailers throughout the state. The 58-year-old recently stopped by a local gas station to check his Powerball ticket and learned he won a third-tier prize in the Nov. 5 drawing.
“When I first scanned the ticket, it said $50,000. I didn’t believe it. I thought it was closer to $50,” he said. After multiple scans, the happy player realized Lottery luck had paid him a visit. The winner plans to invest some of his prize, donate some funds to his church and pay off some bills. Charlie is also the father of an 18-year-old and will put some of the windfall toward college expenses.
He bought his lucky ticket at Upper Marlboro Xtra Fuel at 15009 Marlboro Pike. The retailer is located in Upper Marlboro in Prince George’s County.
