Montgomery County Chief of Police to Hold Press Conference on Tuesday Regarding BodyWorn Video from July 16 Shooting
Montgomery County Chief of Police Marcus Jones will be holding a press conference Tuesday, July 27 at 12:30PM.
A press release sent out by MCPD says Jones will address the media and review BodyWorn video footage from the July 16 shooting of Ryan LeRoux.
Police were called to the McDonald’s on Flower Hill Way in Gaithersburg that night after LeRoux allegedly refused to pay for his food and leave the drive through lane at the restaurant. Police attempted to communicate with LeRoux in order to convince him to leave his vehicle for thirty minutes before he was shot a reported 24 times. LeRoux is reported to have had a loaded Glock on the passenger seat of his vehicle.
LeRoux’s father, who has seen the body cam footage, told NBC4 last week that, “They all unload on him and he supposedly raised a handgun. If you want to know my perspective, he raised his hands. He just raised his hands up. There’s nothing they’ve been able to show or prove that he raised his handgun. Nothing. And then they just went crazy”.
