Montgomery County Commission for Women Presents Self-Defense Workshops

The Montgomery County Commission for Women will offer five opportunities to participate in an evening S.A.F.E. seminar(Self-defense Awareness & Familiarization Exchange) for $10 per participant. This introductory self-defense seminar will assist women of all fitness levels with information that may reduce their risk of exposure to violence and introduce them to the physical aspects of self-defense.

The self-defense seminar will be offered from 7 to 8:30 p.m., online via Zoom, on the following dates:

Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2021

Thursday, Oct. 28, 2021

Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2021

Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021

Thursday, Dec. 16, 2021

This COVID-19 pandemic adapted S.A.F.E. seminar includes:

  • Videos, discussion, and planning skills for reducing personal safety risks;
  • A 40-minute experience learning a sample of physical self-defense techniques; and
  • A 13-piece, student folio with safety information every woman should know (mailed to each participant following the seminar).

Preregistration is required. Teens may attend only with a participating adult. This session is for women only. The men’s class is not currently being offered by the Commission for Women. If you are interested in the men’s class, please call 240-777-8300.
