Per Frederick Police: At approximately 3:30 a.m. on July 23, 2022 an FPD officer was patrolling the North Market Street area when he heard a gunshot in the 300 Block of North Market Street.
Upon arriving on scene, the officer located an individual, later identified as Michael Isaiah Olaniyi, 26, of Montgomery Village, who had suffered a gunshot wound. Mr. Olaniyi was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.
This is an active and ongoing investigation. FPD is asking anyone with information that may be helpful in this investigation to contact Det.
