Montgomery Mall Update (Openings, Closings, Coming Soon, and Celebrity Appearances)

Below is a list of businesses that have recently opened, closed, are being renovated, or are coming soon to Montgomery Mall in Bethesda:
Now Open: Lovisa
Australian based jewelry chain Lovisa opened on January 12. According to its website, “We are the fashionable on-trend jewelry specialist. See our latest styles & curated range for every occasion. From earrings, necklaces, rings & more.” The store is located on the lower level of the mall, next to Journey’s.  Additional jewelry stores  in Montgomery Mall include Elite Jewelers, Francesca’s, Gold Palace, Icing, Jewelry Corner, Kay Jewelers, Lilenquist, & Beckstead, and Pandora.

Remodeling: Everything But Water
Everything But Water, which describes itself as the “destination for gorgeous swimsuits, resortwear, & accessories”, is currently remodeling. It is expected to reopen this this spring.

Closed: Stuart Weitzman
Luxury shoe store Stuart Weitzman closed back in January.  About: “Since 1986, Stuart Weitzman has been inspired by women who are confident, sexy, bold — and, above all, strong. With our meticulous dedication to detail and history of artisanal Spanish craftsmanship, we create beautiful shoes that deliver style and comfort. We put ourselves in the shoes of the women who wear ours, all the while listening closely to give them exactly what they want exactly when they need it.”

Celebrity Appearance: Paul Stanley
Paul Stanley, the co-founder, singer, and guitarist of legendary rock band KISS, will be appearing at the Wentworth Gallery on Friday, February 24 from 7-9pm. Stanley’s art is currently on display at the gallery and individuals who purchase one of his paintings will have the opportunity to meet him at event. According to his website, “Paul Stanley creates portraits and abstracts that are emotionally charged compositions. The scale is huge, the paint laid on thickly; the colors have been chosen in order to generate a powerfully physical and emotional effect. Paul’s work can be associated with the Abstract Expressionists of the late 1940’s and 1950’s. He aims to maximize the direct, physical impact of his paintings through scale, texture, color and simplicity of images.” We will post additional details about this event as they are released. Stanley will also be appearing the Wentworth Gallery at Tysons Galleria on Saturday, February 25.

Now Open: Papaya Clothing
Papaya, which focuses on junior and petite apparel sizes, recently opened on the upper level of the mall, near Macy’s. According to its website, “Papaya Clothing brings affordable & trendy women’s fashion. Our activewear is known for being of great quality at an unbeatable price. We have new styles added every week so you will always find something you’ll love.” Papaya has an additional MoCo location at Wheaton Mall.

Remodeling: T-Mobile
T-Mobile on the lower level of the mall is undergoing renovations. No opening timeframe has been announced. T-Mobile has nearby stores at Federal Plaza in Rockville and Wheaton Mall.

Now Open: Adonni’s Desserts
Adonni’s Desserts, a “haven of sweets”, opened in the Montgomery Mall food terrace at the end of December. Adonni’s is owned and operated by the people behind Malia’s Kitchen, which opened a location in the food terrace earlier this year. Menu items at Adonni’s include fried Oreos, funnel cake fries, brownies, bread pudding, and an assortment of ice cream and cakes.

Coming Soon: Yolly Jolly Kids
Construction is ongoing at Jolly Yolly Kids.  The indoor playground will be located next to The Cheesecake Factory on the mall’s lower level.  The 8,000+ square ft. indoor play space will have playgrounds, party rental space, and an art studio. Per Jolly Yolly: “Jolly Yolly Kids is an indoor play and learning center for children aged 13 and under. The center has a play area of approximately 8,500 square feet, equipped with a multilevel premium indoor play structure for children aged 13 and under, tot lots for children from 2 to 7 years old, baby area for children aged 2 and under, and party rooms. The primary services offered will be children open-play and birthday parties. And our mission is to create an unmatchable experience in a Bright, Safe, Clean, Fun and Friendly environment.”

Bethesda Film Fest

The 2024 Bethesda Film Fest will feature five short documentary films made by filmmakers from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Screenings will be held Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6 at Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema.
