Montgomery Parks Announces Line Up of Events to Celebrate Latino Conservation Week

Montgomery Parks is hosting a series of special programs in celebration of Latino Conservation Week, July 16-25, 2022. The goal of the week, founded in 2014 by the Latino Access Foundation and observed nationwide, is to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards.

“Latino communities are passionate about the outdoors and hold a strong belief that we have a moral obligation to be good stewards,” said Maite Arce, president and CEO of Hispanic Access Foundation. “Latino Conservation Week helps break down barriers for Latino communities to access public lands and waters, encourages new opportunities for engagement and inspires the next generation of environmental stewards.

As the Latino population grows, estimated to become a third of the US population by 2050, the community’s role as stewards is critical to the future success and preservation of our nation’s public lands. This year, there are expected to be more than 160 events nationwide.

In support of Latino Conservation Week, Montgomery Parks will host a variety of bilingual entertainment, nature, and conservation programs. Events include, a comedy showcase, tree climbing, and a movie night. All events are free and open to the public though some require registration.
