Site of the former Silver Spring Intermediate School now a welcoming respite for the community. Montgomery Parks, part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, is hosting a celebration of the updated Silver Spring Intermediate Neighborhood Park. There will be a brief speaking program and ribbon cutting, after which the community will enjoy refreshments and self-guided activities such as corn hole, hula hoops and jump rope, in the updated park. Silver Spring Intermediate Park sits on more than three and a half acres in Takoma Park, near Montgomery College’s Takoma Park campus. The park is the former site of the Silver Spring Intermediate School. The park features a playground, basketball, tennis, and pickleball and soccer courts. The renovation was planned in coordination with former Montgomery County Councilmember Hans Riemer using financial support from the state of Maryland’s Program Open Space. The renovation includes enhanced parking and park access, as well as addressing drainage issues, adding seating and other facilities, and improvements to the courts, as well as landscape.
