Multiple Homes and Cars Damaged by Fallen Trees During Friday Evening Storm

A severe thunderstorm that rolled into the area around 7pm on Friday, July 28 has caused damage in several parts of Montgomery County. According to Chief Spokesperson for Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) Pete Priniger, MCFRS Emergency Communications Center (ECC) is currently on ‘CONDITION RED’ due to heavy call volume. Reminder: Treat traffic lights without a signal as four-way stops.

Incidents reported include:

  • Tree on house with entrapment in the 4400 block of Ives Street, near Keating Street in Aspen Hill 
  • Tree on house in the 12900 block of Kitchen House Way in Germantown
  • Tree on house in the 4000 block of Gannon Road, near Bushey Drive in Silver Spring
  • Tree on house in the 15300 block Carrollton Road, near Jasmine Drive in Rockville
  • Tree on house in the 12800 block of Lacy Drive, near Thomas Drive in Colesville
  • Tree on house in 12000 block of Knoll Mist Lane, off Travis Lane in Gaithersburg
  • House struck by lightning in the 21500 block of Waters Discovery Terrace in Germantown
  • House struck by lightning in the 9300 block Bells Mill Road, near Stapleford Hall Drive in Potomac
  • Tree on car on Clopper Road in Gaithersburg
  • Tree on car on Grenoble Drive in Aspen Hill
  • Wires down across Montgomery County
