New Cake and Dessert Shop Coming to Kentlands

Signage is up for Ed Studio at 360 Main St in Gaithersburg, the former site of SPAGnVOLA chocoltier.  We’re told the store is named after its owner, Ed. The bakery specializes in birthday cakes and is expected to open next month. Ed Studio joins Neal’s Bagels, Poke Bros, Potomac Cookie Co, and TaKorean on the list of restaurants/bakeries coming soon to the Kentlands. Additional information on each location below. The news of Ed Studio opening in the Kentlands was first reported by @pike.and.rozay.

  • Neal’s Bagels is relocating from its current location about a mile and a half away at 12141 Darnestown Rd in the Potomac Valley shopping center in Gaithersburg. The Jewish deli has been there for about 30 years, previously operating under the name Bagels Deluxe. The plan for the Kentlands location is to include indoor seating, as well as an outdoor patio where customers can enjoy their breakfast.  Additions will include a grill that will allow the breakfast spot to add fresh-made eggs to breakfast sandwiches, omelets, pancakes, and waffles. The restaurant is hoping for a May 1st opening.
  • Poke Bros, which opened its first restaurant in 2016 and has since expanded to over 75 restaurants across the country, will be opening its first MoCo location in the space that was previously home to Next Day Blinds at 107 Market St W until 2020.
“Modeling similar assembly line casual dining concepts, we developed a unique way to build your “sushi in a bowl” and have fun doing so! “
  • Potomac Cookie Co is coming to 109A Market, near Moby Dick and next to Poke Bros. Potomac Cookie is known for its “giant size” 4oz cookies.  Flavors include Choco-delight, Da Fudge, Dorothy’s Slippers, Double Dutch,  Peebee ‘n’ Yay!, and S’more Love. No opening date for Potomac Cookie Co has been announced.
  • Permanent signage is now up at TaKorean, a Korean taco grill that is taking over the recently-closed Nalley Fresh location at 261 Kentlands Blvd. The restaurant offers Korean style tacos and bowls. This will be TaKoreans first location outside of D.C and the company is aiming for an early May opening.
