Planned Metrobus Detours in Downtown DC, July 4

Temporary MetroBus Detour: Fourth of July Celebration, Downtown DC Advisory Effective: 7/4/22 – 7/4/22 (Monday, July 4, 2022 | 3 am to 12 midnight) Routes Affected: 5A, 16E, 38B, 33, 32, 36, 42, 43, 52, 54, 64, 70,74, 79, 80, D4, D6, G8, L2,N6, P6, S2, X2


Several Metrobus routes in the downtown Washington, DC area will detour due to the 2022 Fourth of July Celebration event street closures around the National Mall. Please allow additional travel time. Metro information for July 4 can be found here. The following routes will detour:

5A DC-Dulles
  • Buses will operate between Dulles Airport and Rosslyn Station.
16E Columbia Pike
  • Buses will operate between Culmore and Pentagon Transit Center.
38B Ballston – Farragut Square
  • Buses will operate between Ballston and Rosslyn Station.
32, 36 Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Buses will operate between Southern Ave | Naylor Road Station and a bus stop located on K St NW at 13th St (stop ID #1003944). 
33 Wisconsin Avenue
  • Buses will operate between Friendship Heights Station and a bus stop located on Pennsylvania Ave NW at L St (stop ID #1001290). 
42, 43 Mt. Pleasant
  • Buses will operate between Mt. Pleasant via Adams Morgan and a bus stop located on Connecticut Ave NW at S St (stop ID #1001592). 
52 14th Street
  • Buses will operate between 14th St & Colorado St NW and a bus stop located on M St. NW at 4th St (stop ID #1003690). 
54 14th Street 
  • Buses will operate between Takoma Station and a bus stop located on P St NW at 14th St (stop ID#1001452). 
64 Fort Totten – Federal Triangle
  • Buses will operate between Takoma Station and a bus stop located on 11th St NW at K St (stop ID #1001249). 
70, 79 Georgia Ave -7th Street
  • Buses will operate between Silver Spring Transit Center and a bus stop located on 7th St NW at N St (stop ID#1001369). 
74 Convention Center – SW Waterfront
  • Buses will operate between the Convention Center and a bus stop located on M St SW at 4th St (stop ID #1000498). 
80 North Capital Street
  • Buses will operate between Fort Totten station and a bus stop located on 13th St NW at I St (stop ID# 1001175). 
D4 Ivy City-Franklin Square
  • Buses will operate between Ivy City and a bus stop located on K St NW at 5th St. (stop ID#1003651). 
D6 Sibley Hospital Stadium-Armory eastbound toward Stadium Armory (All Day)
  • Buses begin detouring on Massachusetts Ave NW at 20th St, resuming route on Massachusetts Ave NE at First St.
D6 Sibley Hospital Stadium-Armory eastbound toward Stadium Armory (10am to 1pm) 
  • Buses begin detouring on MacArthur Blvd NW at Arizona Ave, resuming route on Reservoir Rd NW at Foxhall Rd.

  • Buses begin detouring on Columbus Cir NE at E St, resuming route on P St NW at Hopkins St.

L2 Connecticut Ave
  • Buses will operate between Chevy Chase Circle and a bus stop located on Massachusetts Ave NW at Florida Ave (stop ID #1001520). 
N6 Massachusetts Ave
  • Buses will operate between Friendship Heights Station and a bus stop located on Massachusetts Ave at 20th St NW (stop ID#1001473). 
P6 Anacostia-Eckington northbound toward Rhode Island Station
  • Buses begin detouring on M St SE at South Capitol St, resuming regular route on 11th St NW at E St.
P6 Anacostia-Eckington southbound toward Anacostia Station
  • Buses begin detouring on 11th St NW at E St, resuming regular route on M St SE at South Capitol St.
S2 16th Street
  • Buses will operate between Silver Spring Transit Center and a bus stop located on 16th St at L St NW (stop ID# 1002911). 
X2 Benning Rd- H Street
  • Buses will operate between Minnesota Avenue Station and a bus stop on 11th St at New York Ave (stop ID# 1001159).
