Montgomery County Police are investigating an assault and robbery that occurred Thursday, March 16 in the parking lot of the Wheaton Giant. According to police, “At approximately 1:40 p.m., MCP officers responded to the Giant Food store in the 2900 block of University Blvd. West in Wheaton for the report of a robbery that just occurred.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that an elderly female victim was loading her groceries into her vehicle when the suspect approached her, pushed her to the ground, and stole her purse. The suspect then left the scene in an unknown vehicle. No injuries have been reported. We’re still looking for the suspect.” We will post an update when additional information is available.
