by MCS Staff

The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating a shooting in the 8500 block of 16th Street at/near the Summit Hills apartment complex. According to a news release earlier today, an adult male victim was transported with serious injuries. No suspect is in custody at this time and officers believe this is an isolated incident.

Earlier today police was investigating a shooting on the 9200 block of New Hampshire Ave. An adult male victim was transported with non-life threatening injuries. No suspect is in custody at this time. Councilmember Kate Stewart released the following statement regarding the shootings:

“I am aware of the pair of shootings today and I am in contact with MCPD to follow developments. One shooting took place in an apartment at the Summit Hills Complex, and a second, unrelated shooting took place near Northampton Drive and New Hampshire Avenue. I appreciate the work of the officers and first responders in both incidents. While unrelated, the common denominator of these incidents is guns. Our country and county are plagued by heartbreaking carnage due to gun violence. I hold the people directly harmed by these senseless incidents, as well as the damage to our community and young people, as motivation to find solutions-oriented answers to this man-made endemic. #EndGun Violence”
