Potential Winter Commuting Hazard for the Washington DC Metro Area Tuesday Morning

The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Tuesday morning, 2/9.

“There is a potential for hazardous commuting conditions for the Tuesday morning commute.

A period of light freezing rain is POSSIBLE (a 30 percent chance) Tuesday morning across the
Washington and Fredericksburg Metropolitan areas.

A light glaze of ice is possible on area roads.
If this threat does materialize during the Tuesday morning rush-hour, many roads could quickly turn icy.

This could lead to dangerous traveling conditions, multiple accidents, and extensive
delays.

If commuting Tuesday morning, be aware of the POSSIBILITY of significant travel disruptions. Plan ahead by allowing for extra travel time, and consider using telework options.
