Purple line construction will cause some minor closures and delays later this month. They can be seen below:
• Beginning on or about October 18, 2021, a segment of Rock Creek Trail will be closed in the work zone (identified in the graphic below) to the public for approximately 3 weeks.
Work may take place from 7.a.m to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, weather permitting. The Rock Creek Trail will be open to the public after 5 p.m. on weekdays and throughout the weekend.
A signed detour will be in place while the segment of trail is closed during daylight hours.
• Beginning on or about October 18, 2021, crews will perform utility relocations on Barron Street between Piney Branch Road (MD 320) and Gilbert Place for one week, weather permitting.
Work may take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and weekends as needed. Temporary lane closures will occur with flagging operations.
• Beginning on or about October 24, 2021, crews will begin utility relocations at the intersection of University Boulevard (MD 193) and Piney Branch Road (MD 320) overnight through the end of November, weather permitting.
Work may take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. weekdays and weekends, as needed. Temporary lane closures will occur with a minimum of one lane in each direction maintained around the work zone and flagging operations in place as needed. Please obey construction signage near the work zones.
