RespectFest 2020 (Choose Respect Montgomery)


Every year, the Montgomery County Domestic Violence Coordinating Council holds an event through our Choose Respect Initiative which focuses on teen dating violence prevention.

RespectFest 2020 is on Sunday, March 29th from 1 -4 at the Wheaton Community Recreation Center. This festival, geared towards middle and high school students, parents, educators and youth serving providers, will have activities, games and information about celebrating healthy relationships and on dating violence prevention and where someone can go to get help.

The festival is being emceed by Alex from The MoCoShow/MoCoSnow, and there will be performances, free food, raffles, free yoga and self-defense demos and students can earn SSL hours for attending.

The education component of this festival will be 8 content booths that will engage attendees with games and activities around a specific topics. to include: Dating Violence 101, How to talk to a friend, How to talk to your parent, Consent. Staying safe with dating apps, self-care, financial abuse and how to talk to your child.
