On November 12 from 12-7, Linda Phillips and Something Earthy Pottery Studio will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a Holidays on the Farm market. Born and raised in Montgomery County, Linda Phillips has been playing a role in her community since the beginning. After taking her first pottery class in 1999, her father turned the detached garage on her farm into a studio and gallery in 2002. Since then, she has expanded twice- including during the height of lockdown in 2020. While her business faced its own challenges during lockdown, she supported her studio members by lending out equipment and supplies to take home.
Previously a pastry chef, in addition to running her pottery studio 7 days a week, Linda is a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau, Countryside Artisans and her farm on the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve is a registered farm market with a high tunnel. She often hosts free concerts to support local bands on her outdoor stage. Linda has kids’ ceramic camps during the summer and then donates her time every year to the Damascus Community Fair where her campers enter their pieces for judging. She hosts homeschool groups and girl scouts so they can earn their pottery badges. She also donated a wheel to the Sisters of Charity at the Seton Center in Emmitsburg earlier this year.
In her shop, you can find over a dozen local artisans’ work, making her support for local artists in Montgomery County unmatched. Linda brings joy to her studio and her passion for creativity has inspired so many. Something Earthy Pottery has become a haven to hundreds of potters in the last 20 years and they are excited to celebrate Linda’s anniversary on Saturday at 24410 Hipsley Mill Road, Laytonsville from 12-7. Stop by to enjoy holiday gifts from over 40 vendors plus food and drinks from a variety of vendors.
