Strosniders Hardware in Downtown Silver Spring is now Silver Spring Ace Hardware
Strosniders Hardware has been in MoCo since 1953. They have locations in Bethesda, Kensington, and Potomac.
Up until yesterday, they had a location in Downtown Silver Spring as well. Today we were told by a Strosniders representative that the 815 Wayne Ave. store is no longer affiliated with local franchise.
The Hardware store will now be known as Silver Spring Ace Hardware according to employee we spoke with earlier today.

BETHESDA, MD. (February 18, 2020) – Strosniders Hardware (“Strosniders”), a DC area hardware store chain, announced today the sale of its Silver Spring location to A Few Cool Hardware Stores (“AFCHS”). It will be saying goodbyeafter 20 years in the community. Strosniders will continue the operation of its three other Maryland locations: Bethesda, Kensington, and Potomac.
“After detailed review, it was decided that the best course of action was to sell our Silver Spring location” says Stan Smith, co-owner of Strosniders. “It was important that this transitionincluded the hiring of all present employees, and this sale is an important step in reaching our goal of sustaining a stronger business. We want to thank our customers for all their support over the years, and we look forward to continuing the Strosniders tradition at our other locations”.
AFCHS, another local hardware chain a part of the Ace Hardware cooperative, will obtain the 10,000 square foot space.Started in 2003 by owners Gina Schaefer and Marc Friedman, its stores encompass the Baltimore and Washington DC area, and this acquisition will mark its 13th location.
“We are thrilled to add Strosniders of Silver Spring to our family of hardware stores” says Gina. “The store will be renamed Silver Spring Ace Hardware and the community can expect a continued focus on great customer service and the products customers need to complete their projects”.
