Baltimore Ice Cream Shop, The Charmery, To Open First MoCo Location

Baltimore-based ice cream shop is making its move into MoCo, with a location coming soon to Chevy Chase Lake in Chevy Chase. According to OpenCorporates, The Charmery will be moving in to 8551 Connecticut Avenue, Suite 202, a 1,306 SF location. Currently, The Charmery has locations in Hampden, Union Collective, Towson, Federal Hill, and it’s first locstion outside of Baltimore, in Columbia, that opened about a year ago.

The restaurant shop is owned and operated by David and Laura Alima. The Charmery started in 2013 with their its first location in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore, MD. Per the Howard County Economic Development Authority:

As passionate entrepreneurs, Laura and David thought of The Charmery after visiting multiple ice cream shops during their travels and seeing these iconic shops put their cities on their shoulders. They wanted to do the same in Baltimore. So, with a background in restaurant management and ice cream making, Laura and David jump started their ice cream shop plans. David started to experiment with flavors and ice cream production and, from there   ̶   The Charmery was born.

The new shop will feature some of The Charmery’s signature flavors like Maryland Mud and Old Bay Caramel, and much more. Per The Charmery website:

Born and bred in Baltimore Maryland, our ice cream intends to be fun, inventive, and a challenge to the conception of what ice cream can be. While our seven “Always” flavors ensure those seeking a traditional ice cream flavors are always satiated, the remaining flavors constantly rotate with the seasons or ice cream makers whims. In addition, there are always two dairy-free offerings. We draw inspiration from local agriculture and maker communities using real fruit, thoughtfully sourced ingredients, and dairy from grass-fed, hormone free, happy cows.

The Charmery is the dream come true of husband and wife team, David and Laura Alima. For over 10 years, they imagined their Ice Cream Shop – traveling around the world for R&D for their own shop. It’s been an amazing journey to get to the point where they opened the doors to The Charmery and shared their vision to the Baltimore community and grown from there.  Both Maryland natives, The Charmery is a homage to the city they live in and love.
