Week 2 Predictions for MCPS High School Football Games

Wheaton (0-1) at Northwood (0-1) – One of these teams will walk away with a much needed win in this DCC matchup. The road ahead gets much tougher for both.

Prediction: Wheaton by 14

Springbrook (1-0) at Kennedy (0-1) – Look for Blue Devil QB Tommy Dietrich to have a standout performance as Springbrook tries to start 2-0 on the season.

Prediction: Springbrook by 18

 

Rockville (1-0) at Watkins Mill (0-1) – Rockville RB Karl Cheng could break 200yds as the Rams try to stay undefeated.

Prediction: Rockville by 27

Poolesville (1-0) at Wootton (0-1) Falcon RB Evan Taylor will be key if Poolesville wants to beat the Patriots.

Prediction: Poolesville by 14

BCC (0-1) at Richard Montgomery (0-1) – Baron QB Carson Griffey will need to play a pivotal role if BCC wishes to get in the Win column.

Prediction: Richard Montgomery by 7

Whitman (0-1) at Walter Johnson (1-0) – The 2nd leg of The Congressional Cup for Walter Johnson is up next as they host Whitman. Look for Wildcat QB Charlie Blessing to have a breakout game.

Prediction: Walter Johnson by 23

Clarksburg (0-1) at Northwest (0-1) –  The Coyotes visit The Black Hole.  Northwest QB Nick Holloway should have a very productive game as the Jags look to get their first victory of the season.

Prediction: Northwest by 32

Gaithersburg (1-0) at Seneca Valley (1-0)After several years, it looks like this classic MCPS rivalry has some fire back.  Trojan RB Gideon Ituka will need to carry the load if Gaithersburg wants to upset the Screamin’ Eagles.

Prediction: Seneca Valley by 22

Damascus (1-0) at Magruder (0-1) – The Colonels defense played extremely well last week. They will need a similar effort if they wish to slow down Dillon Dunathan, Michael Cooley and the rest of the Swarmin’ Hornet run game.

Prediction: Damascus by 28

Blake (1-0) at Churchill (0-1) – Bengal QB Kirby Matson will need to replicate his performance from last week in order to take out the Bulldogs who are hungry for their first victory.

Prediction: Churchill by 7

Urbana (1-0) at Sherwood (1-0) – Warrior QB Amari Allen will need an outstanding game as the revitalized Hawks from Frederick County visit Olney.  Look for Asa Virga Humza Azim to play key roles on the Sherwood defense.

Prediction: Urbana by 17

 

Einstein (0-1) at Blair (1-0) – The potent Blair offense got off to a slow start last week. The Blazers will need to hit the ground running as DCC rival Einstein visits.

Prediction: Blair by 6

Up County Game of the Week

Quince Orchard (1-0) at Paint Branch (1-0) – Two of the most consistent programs in the County lock up once again.  Panther RB Mason Flowers will be key, as will Cougar RB Iverson Howard. Both squads boast stellar defenses.
