Nature: Help Locust Grove Nature Center staff with a community science project during FeederWatch Fridays(opens in a new tab) this Friday, February 3, from 11 am to 12 pm. Dress for the weather and come count birds at feeders around the facility. Free program.

Take the self-guided Maple Sugaring Walk outdoors around Brookside Nature Center and learn about the process of making maple syrup. Free and open sunrise to sunset every day in February.

Bring the kids to Black Hill Visitor Center for the Nature Hunt: Waterfowl Edition(opens in a new tab) on Saturday, February 4. Drop in between 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm to pick up your scavenger hunt sheet. Then, go outdoors and search for waterfowl and other natural treasures. Return your sheet and get a prize. Free but registration is required.

Join Black Hill Nature Programs staff for their Night Hike(opens in a new tab) on Saturday, February 4, 5:30 pm, to listen for creatures active after sunset. Registration is required.

And, join staff at Black Hill Visitor Center for Full Moon Viewing(opens in a new tab) with telescopes and binoculars on Sunday, February 5, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Marvel at this natural phenomenon and meet other celestial observers. Please register.

Crafts: During Sensory Days at Meadowside Nature Center, families with persons with sensory processing differences, autism spectrum disorder, or developmental disabilities participate in self-guided activities and create. On Saturday, February 4, 10 am, you can Make and Take Your Own Liquid Motion Bubble Toy(opens in a new tab) in an upcycled container to take home. Registration required.

Volunteering: Individuals, groups, and families can give back and volunteer with Montgomery Parks this weekend. Pick up litter in the Park and Stream Cleanup(opens in a new tab) at Sligo Mill Nature Conservation Area on Saturday, February 4, 12 pm to 2 pm. Save trees by removing invasive, nonnative plants during the Weed Warrior(opens in a new tab) event on Friday, February 3, 9 am to 11 am, at Long Branch Stream Valley Park at the community center. Participants must register.
