Acoustics and Ales
Start the weekend at Acoustics and Ales in Elm Street Urban Park in downtown Bethesda. Enjoy local craft beer, poutine, and pizza while listening to live music or playing games. Acoustics and Ales is Friday, April 22, from 5 pm to 7:30 pm.
Trains
Listen to the tooting whistle and clackety clack of wheels on the tracks as you search for characters during your ride on our Spring Eye Spy Trains. They run Saturday, April 23, and Sunday, April 24, from 11 am to 6 pm, at Cabin John Train and Wheaton Train and Carousel.
Shine Brighter Together
Before or after your train ride at Wheaton Regional Park on Saturday, April 23, visit the playground for Shine Brighter Together. This family event for Autism Acceptance Month is 11 am to 2 pm. There will be lots of hands-on, sensory-friendly activities, including mural painting. Free admission!
GreenFest
GreenFest, the largest annual environmental festival in Montgomery County, is happening on the other side of Wheaton Regional Park at Brookside Gardens on Saturday, April 23, 11 am to 5 pm. Learn ways to be kinder to the planet. Vendors, music, demonstrations, children’s activities (like tree climbing, yoga, and story time,) and more! FREE admission and FREE shuttle from Glenmont Metro 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
Josiah Henson Museum and Park First Anniversary
Happy birthday to Josiah Henson Museum and Park. The facility celebrates its first anniversary with light refreshments and one-dollar admission on Saturday, April 23, 10 am to 4 pm. Visit and wish staff all the best on their first anniversary!
Beginning Birding for Every Body
Brookside Nature Center offers Beginning Birding for Every Body on Sunday, April 24, from 10 am to 11 am. Discover the joy of birding while learning the basics about binoculars, field guides, and birds along the center’s wildlife pond boardwalk. For ages twelve and older. This program is for individuals of all abilities.
Weed Warriors Workday
Finally, join the Weed Warrior Workday at Meadowood Local Park in Colesville on Sunday, April 24, 2 pm to 4 pm.
Learn to identify invasive plants, like wintercreeper and English ivy, then help remove them to keep our parks healthy for native plants. Volunteers must be sixteen and older to participate and must register.
