Three Adult Males Arrested for Series of Armed Robberies; Possibility of Additional Victims a Concern

At approximately 3:12 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the location for the report of a series of armed robberies that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives has determined that two victims were on Thayer Ave. and another victim was on Fenton St. when they were approached by the suspects, later identified as Ramos, Miller and Dickey, who were driving a white Honda HRV. Two of the suspects exited the vehicle, displayed a firearm and stole property from the three victims.

The suspects also attempted to rob another victim in the area of Silver Spring Ave. and Grove St. The suspects demanded the victim to empty his pockets. In fear of his safety, the victim ran away from the suspects. The suspects chased after the victim until bystanders intervened by shouting “police,” causing the suspects to leave the scene in the Honda.

Officers obtained a description of the suspects and their vehicle from the victims. In the area of Eastern Ave. and 14th St., officers observed a Honda HRV matching the description of the suspect vehicle. Officers attempted to pull over the Honda, but the driver did not stop and continued driving at a high rate of speed. Officers pursued the Honda into Washington, D.C, where the suspects bailed out of the vehicle after crashing. The suspects were quickly apprehended by Montgomery County Police and Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers.

MPD took custody of the three suspects and charged them with fugitive from justice and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

Detectives applied for and received an arrest warrant against the suspects for multiple offenses, including armed robbery and first-degree assault. Ramos was charged as an adult.

Detectives also determined that the suspects’ vehicle had been carjacked on July 6, 2022, in the 1900 block of East West Hwy. During this incident, the victim had just parked his vehicle at the location. When exiting his vehicle, he was approached by two suspects, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The suspect, later identified as Deon Dickey, pointed the handgun at the victim and demanded his car key and wallet. The victim complied with the suspect’s demand. The suspects entered the vehicle and left the location with the Honda HRV.

Detectives obtained probable cause to charge Dickey with armed carjacking, as well as use of a firearm in a violent crime.

Detectives believe that there may be additional victims that have not contacted police, and are urging any victims or anyone who has surveillance footage of the suspects with the vehicle near the crime scenes to contact the 3rd District Investigative Section at (240)773-6870, the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070, or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS(8477). Callers may remain anonymous.
