Per MCPD:
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged, Jalonte Malik Cole, 27, Sammie David Smith, 28, and Rayvon Marquis Drayton, 25, for the Thursday, August 18, 2022, armed robbery of an AT&T store in the 12000 block of Rockville Pike in Rockville.

At approximately 8:58 p.m., 1st District officers responded to the above location for an armed robbery that just occurred.

The investigation by detectives determined that the suspects entered the store and announced the robbery by displaying a handgun and using it to hit a victim on the head. The suspects then forced the employees into the rear office and storage area. Once inside they demanded that the employees open the safe. The victims complied and Cole, Smith and Drayton then began to fill large laundry style bags with iPhones, iWatches, tablets and AirPods. Before leaving with the stolen items, they also stole the store’s nightly cash deposit.

Earlier in the day, 2nd District officers responded to an armed robbery at an AT&T store in the 4900 block of Elm Street. At that time, the suspects were seen in a blue 2022 Hyundai Elantra.

The investigation by detectives determined that the same suspects were involved in both robberies.

Through the course of the investigation, detectives from the First, Second and Fourth District Special Assignment Teams identified the suspects as Cole, Smith and Drayton. The suspects were observed fleeing Montgomery County into Prince Georges County and the District of Columbia in the Blue Hyundai Elantra.

On Friday, August 19, 2022, Cole, Smith and Drayton were arrested without incident and found to be in possession of two handguns and a large amount of cash.

Cole, Smith and Drayton were transported to the Central  Processing Unit where they were charged with two counts of armed robbery, two counts of first-degree assault and firearm related charges.

Drayton is currently being held without bond. Cole and Smith have both been released on bond.
