Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division have arrested and charged 21-year-old Marc Anthony Dacenay, Jr. and 20-year-old Marquie Antonio Dacenay, both of Waldorf, with charges related to an attempted carjacking that occurred on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

At approximately 5:30 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the 900 block of Ellsworth Dr. for the report a strong-arm robbery. The preliminary investigation revealed that the juvenile male victim was sitting inside the lobby of the Regal Majestic movie theater, when he was approached by one suspect, who punched him in the face and stole the victim’s personal property. A second suspect approached and both suspects punched the victim several times. Then, the suspects left the movie theater.

While investigating the robbery, it was believed that the two suspects got on a Ride-On Flash bus heading northbound on Colesville Rd. Officers were able to locate the Ride-On bus on Colesville Rd. and University Blvd. While in the vicinity, officers located two suspects who matched the description of the lookout, in the area of Colesville Rd. and University Blvd. When the officers attempted to stop the suspects, they ran away.

During the chase, one of the suspects dropped a silver Sarsilmaz K2 .45 caliber handgun. Officers caught the first suspect and later identified him as Marc Dacenay, Jr. The second suspect, later identified as Marquie Dacenay, attempted to steal a Blue Nissan Altima that was being driven on Colesville Rd.  After pulling on the passenger door handle several times, he was unable to get into the car and then attempted to gain entry to a Black van that was behind the Altima. The van was being driven by an on-duty Montgomery County Police Detective, who took Marquie Dacenay into custody. Officers found a 9mm “ghost gun” in his possession.

Detectives are still investigating whether these suspects are responsible for the initial robbery that took place inside the Regal Theater.  Marc Dacenay Jr. and Marquie Dacenay were transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit. Marc Dacenay Jr. was charged with possession of a handgun. Marquie Dacenay was charged with attempted carjacking, attempted theft under $25,000, second degree assault and possession of a handgun.

Oh, the poor dears – why, *they’re* the real victims, aren’t they? Gosh, let’s weep for them – they just need a good hug, right?

WTF is going on in Downtown Silver Spring?!?!?! It’s been nothing but robberies, stabbings, shootings, anf killings. This use to be such a safe area with very little crime that happened few and far in between. Now, I sadly, won’t be visiting as much.

I am more than disgusted. I grew up here and won’t be patronizing businesses in downtown Silver Spring. In fact, I’ll be moving away as soon as I possibly can. 😢
