Update: Detectives Investigative Fatal Collision in Damascus; Victim’s Identity Released

Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit have identified the victim in the June 18 fatality as 45-year-old Rene Rivas Quinteros from Winchester, Virginia.

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single vehicle fatal collision that occurred on the morning of June 18, 2022, in the 28540 block of Ridge Rd.

At approximately 8:15 a.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a single vehicle collision.

The investigation by detectives has determined that the driver of a black 2007 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on Ridge Rd. when he, for reasons that are still under investigation, crossed the northbound lanes, left the roadway and struck a tree.  The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

The passenger in the Toyota Camry suffered life-threatening injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent is a 45-year-old male from Winchester, Virginia. The name of the deceased will be released following proper notification of the family.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
