Per MCPD: Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred the morning of Sunday, January 15, 2023, in the area of Muncaster Mill Road and Sycamore Lane in Aspen Hill.
At approximately 7:23 a.m., Montgomery County Police Officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a collision between two vehicles. The investigation by detectives has revealed that the driver of a black 2015 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Muncaster Mill Road when he crossed the center line and struck a silver 2004 Ford Escape that was traveling eastbound on Muncaster Mill Road.
The adult male driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 30-year-old Eddy Thomas Jara, of Gaithersburg. The driver and the front passenger of the Ford were transported to an area hospital with injuries believed to be non-life threatening. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
