Village Grille in Rockville Headed to Court Over Dispute With Rockville Ice Arena

The Village Grille, located inside of the Rockville Ice Arena at 50 South Lawn Ct in Rockville, will be heading to court on April 26th for failure to pay rent and repossession of the property.

This stems from the restaurant not paying rent since April of last year, when the ice arena closed due to the pandemic.

Lani Warsaw, daughter of the owners of the Village Grill, posted a letter on the Village Grille’s website. In it, she wrote, “On April 26th, my parents must appear in court as their landlords, the Montgomery Youth Hockey Association board, have requested they pay rent for the past year they’ve been closed due to the pandemic. If you know anything about the Rockville Ice Arena , you know that it sits high, perched on top of a hill far from the rest of the Rockville community. The option to carry-out for my parents was implausible this past year. Almost all their customers come from the Rockville Ice Arena which was closed for many months. When it did open, it was at a limited capacity. Additionally, the Village Grille was advertised as closed through the Rockville Ice Arena’s website and social media.”

The restaurant says they have been met with silence from the Montgomery Youth Hockey Association board, owners of the property, when trying to negotiate.

The Village Grill describes itself as a full-sized throwback diner that serves an extensive variety of Mexican and American selections as well as a full Starbucks menu.
