UPDATE: Per a sign on I-270 South, exit 12 will open on or about 6/8/20.
Exit 12, Watkins Mill Rd, is getting closer!
The I-270 at Watkins Mill Road Interchange project is an $85 million project for the Maryland State Highway Administration to relieve congestion on one of Montgomery County’s most congested corridors.
Construction plans have included a new interchange on I-270 consisting of 14 structures, including a five span bridge over I-270 and a two span bridge along an off-ramp.
The exit is expected to open by this summer.

Day late and dollar short as usual. These improvement are abut 30 years late. Will we ever see three lanes to Frederick?
Never see three lanes. Nobody wants to pay for it. Government doesn’t care.
This is going to be better than slice bread
What a waste of money
Definitely not a waste.
Agreed not a waste of money finally something for North MC
Ramp metering is also coming for most of the ramps entering 270 in MoCo in the next year. Hopefully this will improve the traffic flow as expected.
