What’s New & What’s Coming Soon to Montgomery Mall (January 2023)

Below is a list of businesses that have recently opened or are coming soon to Montgomery Mall in Bethesda:
Now Open: Papaya Clothing

Papaya, which focuses on junior and petite apparel sizes, is now open on the upper level of the mall, near Macy’s. According to its website, “Papaya Clothing brings affordable & trendy women’s fashion. Our activewear is known for being of great quality at an unbeatable price. We have new styles added every week so you will always find something you’ll love.” Papaya has an additional MoCo location at Wheaton Mall.

Now Open: Adonni’s Desserts
Adonni’s Desserts, a “haven of sweets”, has opened in the Montgomery Mall food terrace. Adonni’s is owned and operated by the people behind Malia’s Kitchen, which opened a location in the food terrace earlier this year. Menu items at Adonni’s include fried Oreos, funnel cake fries, brownies, bread pudding, and an assortment of ice cream and cakes.

Now Open: ZBounce
ZBounce has recently reopened inside of Montgomery Mall. The indoor play space/amusement park was previously located in the mall near Macy’s and is now located across from Forever 21. ZBounce describes itself as “the Ultimate Kids Fun Center in the mall” with inflatable slides, bounce houses, and bumper cars. Now Open: Creative Outlets Art Center
Westfield Montgomery has given a retail space on the upper level of the mall to local community non-profit, Creative Outlets Art Center, to further their commitment to connect with the community. Zeina Davis, Marketing Director for Westfield Montgomery tells us, “we are so honored to have such a wonderful community resource in our center. Creative Outlet’s mission of providing art as a wellness tool is a meaningful addition and have already loved working closely with the arts center on engaging and exciting art programming for families.”

Coming Soon: Lovisa
Australian based jewelry chain Lovisa is coming to the lower level of Montgomery Mall. According to its website, “We are the fashionable on-trend jewelry specialist. See our latest styles & curated range for every occasion. From earrings, necklaces, rings & more.” Additional jewelry stores  in Montgomery Mall include Elite Jewelers, Francesca’s, Gold Palace, Icing, Jewelry Corner, Kay Jewelers, Lilenquist, & Beckstead, and Pandora. No opening date for Lovisa has been announced.

 

Now Open: Squishable
Squishable, a pop-up shop that sells hundreds of varieties of stuffed animals that are “cute giant balls of squishy love that are soft, huggable, cuddly, and all-around awesome,” is now open. According to their website, Squishable was started in 2007 by co-founders Aaron and Zoe. They didn’t know anything about toys, but they figured it out. Over the last decade and a half, we have released millions of Squishables to their new homes in the wild. Here at Squishy HQ in Soho, New York City, we’re creating things that help make the world a cuter place.”


Now Open: Socks To Be You
Socks to Be You is now open on the upper level of Montgomery Mall.  The novelty sock stores sells socks printed with fun designs and characters.  According to their website, “Our socks are made from 80% cotton. They are really comfortable, 100% odor free and made with Earth Friendly materials.”

Coming Soon: Yolly Jolly Kids
The latest update on Jolly Yolly Kids is that it will be opening in early 2023, according to a team member at the Fairfax, VA location. The indoor playground will be located next to The Cheesecake Factory on the mall’s lower level.  The 8,000+ square ft. indoor play space will have playgrounds, party rental space, and an art studio. Per Jolly Yolly: “Jolly Yolly Kids is an indoor play and learning center for children aged 13 and under. The center has a play area of approximately 8,500 square feet, equipped with a multilevel premium indoor play structure for children aged 13 and under, tot lots for children from 2 to 7 years old, baby area for children aged 2 and under, and party rooms. The primary services offered will be children open-play and birthday parties. And our mission is to create an unmatchable experience in a Bright, Safe, Clean, Fun and Friendly environment.”

Bethesda Film Fest

The 2024 Bethesda Film Fest will feature five short documentary films made by filmmakers from Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. Screenings will be held Friday April 5 and Saturday April 6 at Landmark Bethesda Row Cinema.
