Wootton High School To Begin Search For New Principal Following Promotion of Current Principal, Ms. Kimberly Boldon

The Montgomery County Board of Education today appointed Wootton principal Ms. Kimberly Boldon to the role of Consulting Principal, following 19 years at the school as an administrator and teacher, with the last seven as principal.

A letter was sent to the Wootton community providing information about the timeline and process for the selection of the new principal. The selection process will include an opportunity for staff and families to provide input. The full letter can be seen below.

Dear Wootton High School Staff and Community,

Today, the Montgomery County Board of Education appointed Ms. Kimberly Boldon to the role of Consulting Principal. Ms. Boldon has served as your principal for the last seven years, and I have been impressed with her commitment to excellence for students, parents, and staff. Ms. Boldon has served the Wootton community for nineteen years as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. She has led the Wootton community through challenging times with grace and a steadfast commitment to her students’ academic and social emotional well-being. We have been fortunate to have her as the leader of Wootton, and we will ensure our next principal brings the same level of commitment to the Wootton community. I have enjoyed working with Ms. Boldon as her supervisor, and I wish her all the best in her new role serving the principals of Montgomery County Public Schools.

The purpose of this letter is to share information about the timeline and process for the selection of the principal of Wootton High School.  Our principal selection process includes an opportunity for staff and families to provide input. This input includes sharing feedback on the characteristics you seek in a principal and a select group of staff, parents, and students to join me as members of the interview panel.  Given the ongoing conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the opportunity to meet with me will occur virtually in a Zoom meeting format.  Please note that there is one meeting for staff and another for the community. Please be sure you attend the appropriate session.  The meeting is designed to provide an overview of the principal selection process. You may provide input on the characteristics you are seeking in your principal using the link to the survey provided here:

The Staff Informational Meeting will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 2:45 pm

The Community Informational Meeting will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 7:00 pm

During the online meeting I will discuss the selection process with everyone in greater detail and will communicate the schedule of activities leading up to the identification of the next principal.  It is expected that interviews will occur in the next few weeks and the new principal will be identified later in the month for a July 1, 2022start date.

I know that a change in leadership often feels unexpected and generates questions.  These feelings are increased at a time of uncertainty and the ongoing pandemic.   In my role as director I will walk you through this process, prioritize your interests, and ensure that Wootton is well cared for during this transition. If you have questions I can answer in the meantime, please contact me at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Jenn Webster
