MoCo Resident Claims $4 Million Mega Millions Prize

A Montgomery County resident is $4,000,000 richer after claiming a winning Mega Millions ticket that was purchased at a Baltimore convenience store. Full story below courtesy of the Maryland Lottery:

“The largest of the Mega Millionsprizes won in Maryland during the recent billion-dollar run – a $4 million second-tier hit – was claimed Aug. 11 by a player from Montgomery County. The player, for whom anonymity is a high priority, self-identified as a “Proud Marylander,” who is on the verge of retirement thanks to the big win.

Two $10,000 Winning Mega Millions Tickets Sold in Maryland; $1.58 Billion Ticket Sold in Florida

The state had 26 third-tier winners of at least $10,000 during this jackpot run that started on April 21. There have been over 1 million winning tickets sold in Maryland during that time. More than $56.5 million in sales occurred during the roll, and based on approximately 25% of sales being returned to the state, the profit to the Maryland General Fund from those sales was about $14.5 million. The last Maryland jackpot win came in March 2014, when Maryland and Florida players split a $414 million jackpot. That winning ticket was sold at Lady’s Liquors in La Plata. Mega Millions tickets are sold in 47 states and jurisdictions. Odds of winning a $1 million prize are 1 in 12 million with overall odds of winning 1 in 24.” Featured image courtesy of Google Maps.

$50,000-Winning Powerball Ticket Sold at Maryland Giant

A $50,000 winning Powerball ticket was sold at an Anne Arundel County Giant. According to the Maryland Lottery, “Check your Powerball tickets from Monday’s drawing, Maryland! Even though no one hit the estimated $145 million jackpot, there was one $50,000-winning ticket sold in our state. The Maryland Lottery is looking for the lucky player who bought the third-tier winning ticket at Giant #0358 located at 573 Ritchie Highway in Severna Park.

The winning numbers in the Aug. 7 drawing were 6, 13, 20, 35 and 54; the Powerball was 22 and the Power Play multiplier was X2. In addition to the third-tier winner, Marylanders won 13,401 prizes ranging from $4 to $200. Lottery officials encourage winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location. Montgomery County Man Wins $50,000 at Poolesville Gas Station

A Montgomery County resident is $50,000 after purchasing a winning scratch-off lottery ticket at the Crown Gas Station (17700 Elgin Road) in Poolesville. Full story below courtesy of the Maryland Lottery:

“An unusual set of three back-to-back scratch-off wins at a Poolesville business made a Montgomery County resident $50,000 richer recently. The 64-year-old was traveling past the MOAB Crown gas station at 17700 Elgin Road in Poolesville and stopped in to play scratch-offs, which are his favorite Lottery game. To his surprise, he won $50 on a game and used some of the prize money to keep playing instant tickets.

Mega Millions Jackpot Reaches $1.55 Billion; Six $10,000 Winning Tickets Sold Last Week in Maryland

“No one hit the Mega Millions jackpot over the weekend, boosting the game’s top prize to $1.55 billion, but six players in Maryland won $10,000 each in the game in the past week, one each in Annapolis, Edgewater, Frederick, Leonardtown, Ocean City and Silver Spring. The $1.55 billion jackpot is the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever, and the third largest U.S. jackpot. The biggest Lottery wins in the past week, however, were four prizes between $100,000 and $500,000 on scratch-off tickets purchased in Adelphi, Cumberland, Perry Hall and Pikesville.

This Tuesday’s Mega Millions Jackpot Now at $1.55 Billion

Per Mega Millions: “Onward and upward! The next Mega Millions drawing on Tuesday, August 8, will flirt with the game’s record jackpot of $1.537 billion, won in South Carolina on October 23, 2018. After no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Friday night – the white balls 11, 30, 45, 52 and 56, plus the gold Mega Ball 20 – the estimated jackpot rolls to $1.55 billion ($757.2 million cash). With enthusiastic players across the country, many of whom are newcomers to the game, it is indeed likely that there will be a new record Mega Millions jackpot. However, we won’t know for sure until we get closer to Tuesday’s drawing; at this level, jackpots are hard to predict with complete accuracy.

$1.25 Billion Jackpot for Tonight’s Mega Millions Lottery Drawing

The jackpot for tonight’s Mega Millions lottery drawing has reached $1.25 billion, with a $625.3 million cash option. Winning Mega Millions tickets worth $1 million and $40,000 we recently sold in Maryland for the July 25 drawing. The $1 million ticket was sold at Pine Liquors (9231 Oxon Hill Road) in Prince George’s County and the $40,000 Mega Millions Megaplier ticket was sold at Giant (8100 Loch Raven Boulevard) in Towson. “The Mega Millions jackpot continues its relentless upward march! After no ticket matched all six numbers drawn Tuesday night – the white balls 8, 24, 30, 45 and 61, plus the gold Mega Ball 12 – the estimated jackpot rolls to $1.25 billion ($625.3 million cash) for the next drawing on Friday, August 4. If won at that level, it would be the fourth largest prize in Mega Millions history. The jackpot has been rolling since it was last won in New York on April 18; Friday’s drawing will be the 31st in this current run. Overall, the total number of winning tickets at all prize levels continues to increase along with the jackpot, and the August 1 drawing produced a total of 4,904,910 winning tickets across all prize tiers.

Mega Millions Jackpot Climbs to $1.25 Billion; Two $10,000 Winning Tickets Sold in Maryland

Maryland’s two third-tier $10,000 winning tickets were both sold in Anne Arundel County. Check your tickets closely if you bought them at Pantry One Food Mart, 1090 Spa Road in Annapolis or South River Colony Exxon at 111 Mitchells Chance Road in Edgewater. Lottery officials encourage all winners to sign the back of their tickets immediately and put them in a safe location until they can claim their prize. Winners get 182 days from the date of the drawing to claim prizes.

Players must redeem prizes larger than $25,000 by mail or at Lottery headquarters in the Montgomery Park Business Center, 1800 Washington Blvd., Suite 330 in Baltimore. Tonight’s Mega Millions Jackpot Now at $1.1 Billion

With excitement over the rising jackpot, the number of prizes won across the other eight prize tiers keeps growing. In the July 28 drawing, there were a total of 3,157,597 winning tickets across all tiers. Of those, 586,903 included the optional Megaplier (available in most states with an extra $1 purchase), which multiplies all standard non-jackpot prizes by a factor of 2x to 5x; Friday night’s Megaplier was 5x. In the current Mega Millions matrix and Megaplier configuration, which has been in place since October 28, 2017, there has never been a Megaplier of 5x drawn at this extraordinary jackpot level. That means a lot of prizes in other tiers have been multiplied by a factor of five!

They include a big $5 million winner in Pennsylvania, one of five tickets nationwide that matched the five white balls for the game’s second-tier prize. Another Pennsylvania ticket takes home the standard $1 million prize in the July 28 drawing, along with tickets in Arizona, California and New York. Across the country, 92 tickets matched four white balls plus the Mega Ball to win the third-tier prize. Fourteen of those tickets are worth $50,000 each, because they also included the optional Megaplier. The other 78 win the standard $10,000 each.
