$530,000 Winning Lottery Ticket Sold in Silver Spring

This marks the third time a Multi-Match jackpot has been hit in 2022. The winner can choose between the annuity or the estimated $280,000 cash option (before taxes). In addition to hitting the jackpot on the $10 ticket, the lucky player won an additional $4,542.

The $50,000-winning Bonus Match 5 player bought a lucky ticket from Shoppers #2347 located at 3441 Laurel Fort Meade Road in Laurel. The winning numbers in the drawing were 3, 4, 19, 22 and 28; the Bonus Ball was 39. This is the 31^st top-prize winning Bonus Match 5 ticket sold in Maryland this year.

“I was walking my dog when I checked my ticket on the Lottery app,” said the rehabilitation counselor. “I literally jumped for joy.” Calling his wife as he hurried home, the 58-year-old shared the good news and his excitement was contagious. “She was very, very happy, sort of laughing and crying on the phone.”

The Montgomery County couple, along with their extended family, experienced a pre-vacation nightmare recently that involved payments gone missing. While they continue looking into the unusual situation, their Lottery surprise will do much to make them whole.

“My wife’s winnings were enough for me to buy a game that I had tried a few times with pretty good success,” the 47 year-old construction worker explained to lottery officials. Jose told us that he buys a ticket just about every day when he picks up his wife from work. “It was the VIP CLUB game I had my eye on. It has a $2 million top prize!”

Scratching his ticket, Jose saw what he thought was a $50 match. “I scanned it, just to be sure and right away saw the $50 prize, followed by a bunch of zeros. It was confusing at first, until I realized that I’d won $50,000.” The Montgomery County couple refused to believe what they were seeing until the clerk confirmed it, which he quickly did. “My wife shouted and jumped up in the air.”

“We were excited. We were happy and we cried,” she said, recalling that the family members surrounded her after the win. The Montgomery County resident is an online sales associate and her husband is a construction worker. She wants to use the money to start her own business. Her adult daughter works at a hair salon and the “Double Winners” might help the daughter start her own salon. “I plan to help family with this money,” she said. “We might take a few vacations, too.”

Some players might stop playing after winning $1 million, but “Double Winners” said she will continue to seek another trip to the Winner’s Circle at Lottery headquarters. “I will continue to buy scratch-offs,” she said.

Maryland Lottery, Casinos and Sports Wagering Contribute Record-Breaking $1.511 Billion to the State in FY2022

The Lottery and the casinos each contributed more than ever before to the state, with Lottery profits totaling $673.7 million and casino contributions of $832.3 million. The combined figure of $1.506 billion from the Lottery and casinos surpassed the $1.391 billion generated in FY21. Meanwhile, the launch of sports wagering and revenue from fantasy competitions added another $5.6 million to that already record-breaking sum.

“We are immensely proud to be a vital source of funding for programs and services that Marylanders depend on every day,” said Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director John Martin. “We’re in the entertainment business, but we never lose sight of the role we play and our place in the community.”

$25,000 Winning ‘Pick 5’ Ticket Sold at Silver Spring 7-Eleven

A $25,000 winning Pick 5 ticket, purchased for 50-cents, was sold at the 7-Eleven at 13401 New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. According to the Maryland Lottery, the winning numbers on August 9 were 77770 and delivered 20 winning tickets, each worth over $10,000 or more, including the ticket previously mentioned. When the Maryland Lottery’s evening Pick 5 drawing came up 77770 on Aug. 9, the result was an unusual number of big winners. A total of five $1 straight tickets each won $50,000, and five 50-cent straight tickets each won $25,000. Meanwhile, there were 10 5-Way Box tickets with $1 wagers that each won $10,000.

The father of three called his wife and told her, adding that she was so happy she started crying. He even sent her a video of the Lottery terminal message that was displayed when he scanned the ticket, indicating that it was a big winner. “JR Munoz” said he and his family are now getting ready to move into their forever home.

The Powerball jackpot rolled to an annuity value of $206.9 million before being hit in the Aug. 3 drawing on a ticket sold in Pennsylvania.

Retired Military Veteran Wins $50,000 From Scratch-Off Purchased at Rockville Giant

A Rockville resident is now $50,000 richer after she won top prize on a Show Me $50,000! scratch-off ticket. The retired military veteran, who is calling herself “Money Lady,” made a visit to Lottery Headquarters on Aug. 3 to claim her prize and share her story.

The 66-year-old, who is legally blind, explained that she bought the ticket at Giant #319 located at 625 Hungerford Drive in Rockville. She hit a few selections, but some of the ticket slots in the machine were empty.

$10,000 Scratch Off Ticket Sold in Olney
