Montgomery County Police Assisting in Inauguration Safety
Montgomery County Police officers will be joining the The United States Capitol Police and other law enforcement agencies in Washington, D.C. for the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris on January 20th.
After 23 years on-air, WAMU announced Wednesday that “The Kojo Nnamdi Show” will air its last live show on April 1, 2021.
WAMU reported that the host Kojo Nnamdi expressed his wishes to step back from his normal duties at the radio station last year. The popular radio host will continue to host WAMU’s “The Politics Hour” with resident analyst Tom Sherwood. Nnamdi will also continue to host his show “Kojo In Our Community,” focusing on local issues and communities.
Second Round of Paycheck Protection Program Funding Now Available
A little while ago, we let you know that there would be another round of federal funding for the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
2020 has been a difficult year for restaurants. A few weeks ago we released a list of restaurants that have closed since March 17th.(not necessarily due to Covid, but since the day the initial restrictions were put in place).
While that list is long, there are still plenty of restaurants planning to open in MoCo in 2021.

State Trooper Assaulted, Injured on I-270
Shortly after 2PM Friday, the Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack received a call reporting a pedestrian walking on I-270 between Montrose and Falls Roads. Maryland State Troopers responded to the scene and the pedestrian quickly became combative with the first Trooper who arrived.
Extended Extrication After Germantown Rollover
Around 5:30PM Thursday evening, Montgomery County Career and Volunteer Firefighters responded with Montgomery County Police officers to a reported crash on Seneca Meadows Pkwy near Goldenrod Lane in Germantown.
Montgomery County Councilmember Evan Glass tweeted this afternoon (December 31, 2020) that MoCo has distributed almost 3,000 Moderna COVID-19 vaccines in the last 48 hours, in addition to the Pfizer vaccine which has been making the rounds with hospital frontline staff across the county.
It also appears that nursing homes will be receiving doses through a direct partnership with retail pharmacies in the area; Glass noted that this process was being coordinated directly by the state of Maryland.
