CM Chicken is coming to Germantown– taking over the space that was home to Johnny’s Kabob Restaurant (12933 Wisteria Drive) in Germantown Plaza.
Originally started in South Korea, CM Chicken specializes in Texas-Korean-style fried chicken. On the menu, expect to see items like red hot pepper chicken, garlic spicy chicken, curry chicken, fried chicken, bacon spinach chicken, lemon spring onion chicken and tikku soy sauce chicken gizzards, along with sides such as rice, coleslaw and fried calamari.
Kyoto Matcha, an international chain dedicated to Matcha desserts, opened in Rockville Town Square on Black Friday.
Today we stopped in for some amazing desserts and were pleasantly surprised by a full restaurant during off-peak hours– definitely great to see at Rockville Town Square.
Kara Hibachi & Sushi is coming to the Potomac Valley Shopping Center across from Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg.
I stopped in last night and was told that they expect to open by the end of the month, but it looked like there was plenty of work left to be done.
Patisserie Manuel will open this Saturday, 12/7/19, in the Montgomery Mall food court. It will take over the spot that was formerly home to Wicked Waffle.
Patisserie Manuel had its first location in Silver Spring until last June when they moved to a warehouse kitchen in Brookeville.

F45 Training, the Australian fitness franchise which recently brought on actor Mark Wahlberg as a minority owner, is coming to Rio. It’ll be located at 28 Grand Corner Avenue, near Target and Pier 1.
Every F45 studio consists of a small room filled with a few pieces of simple fitness equipment and a bookshelf to store your belongings during the workout.
UPDATE: Bethesda Magazine has reported that Fran Pepe has delayed its plan to open in Montgomery Mall and that the restaurant is no longer expected to open in late 2020. No new date has been provided.
In a tweet this morning, he wrote that Frank Pepe’s is opening a location in Montgomery Mall in late 2020.
Back in August we reported that CB Açaí Bowls and Smoothies is coming to Olney. The signage is now up next to Shell on Georgia Avenue.
CB Açaí Bowls and Smoothies will be located in the Olney Center at 18062 Georgia Avenue, which is currently home to House of Fortune, and is expected to open in the first half of 2020 (aiming for April).
Madison Reed, a prestige hair color brand, is bringing its Madison Reed Color Bars to the Washington, D.C., area with a new store in Bethesda Row. The Bethesda Color Bar is the first East Coast location outside of Manhattan, and it opens on Thurs., Dec. 12.
Nishiki Ramen & Sushi is now open in the old Yoyogi location at 328 Main Street in the Kentlands.
Back in May we reported that Yaho Sushi would be taking over the location, but the owners made changes and added ramen as a major part of the menu to go along with the name change.
