Back in June we let you know that Popeyes would be taking over the old Zoe’s Kitchen spot in the Kentlands (177 Kentlands Blvd).
Things have progressed relatively quickly, and everything is now ready to go.
County Allows Alcohol Sales After 10 p.m. with Waiver
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, after consultation with County Health Officer Dr. Travis Gayles, has issued an updated executive order that allows food service establishments to serve alcohol after 10 p.m.
Popeyes is Coming to Downtown Silver Spring
Popeyes will be taking over the space that was left vacant by Bombay Gaylord in 2015 after a fire destroyed the restaurant. The owners of Bombay Gaylord opened Nirvana Indian Cuisine in Olney in late 2018.

Back in July, we let you know that a new drive-thru Starbucks was being built in the parking lot in front of Lowe’s and behind Chipotle. Today, we stopped by to check on the progress of the new building.
The current Starbucks location will close when this new location opens. We heard that a local coffee shop might take its place.

Langano Ethiopian Restaurant is Coming to White Oak
The Ethiopian restaurant opened its first restaurant in Georgia Avenue in Downtown Silver Spring and has been working on the newest location in the White Oak shopping center for a while now.
Dolcezza to Close in Bethesda Row
This morning Dolcezza announced the closing of five of their gelato and coffee shops in the DC area, including their sole MoCo location at Bethesda Row.
Ziki Japanese Steakhouse, a popular Hibachi spot in Gaithersburg, has been closed since March 16th.
The other Ziki location, in Annapolis Town Center, reopened for carry-out in early April and resumed dine-in service in June.

Recently, we were invited to a tasting event at Poyoteca, located in Fallsgrove. Poyoteca is best known for their Peruvian Chicken (cooked using a secret family recipe), but they also have a wide range of side dishes, salads, sandwiches, burritos, desserts, and more on their menu.
The Fallsgrove location of Poyoteca opened up for the first time in the midst of COVID, back in July. The two owners, Fernando and Juan Sanchez, are brothers who were born in Peru, but raised in Rockville. They currently have one other Poyoteca location in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor.
