Driver That Struck Family of Six Walking on Sidewalk in Gaithersburg on Friday Evening Charged With DUI

A family of six, which included several children, were struck by a vehicle while they were walking on the sidewalk along Girard St. in Gaithersburg.


Montgomery County Chief of Police Marcus Jones and County Executive Marc Elrich will hold a press conference today at 5PM to discuss the investigation into Saturday night’s shooting at the Flower Hill McDonald’s (18273 Flower Hill Way) in Gaithersburg, which led to the death of a 21-year-old man.


Governor Hogan Renews State of Emergency for Maryland After 12 Days

On June 15th, Governor Hogan announced that the state of emergency due to COVID-19 would be lifted effective July 1st. Last week on July 12th, Governor Hogan renewed the state of emergency and catastrophic health emergency in a proclamation, which you can view here. There were no press releases or public announcements from the Governor’s office regarding the state of emergency, which lead to speculation as to why it was reinstated.


Montgomery County Fair to Host COVID Vaccination Site

Along with the carnival rides and funnel cakes, fairgoers will have an opportunity to get the COVID-19 vaccination at this year’s Montgomery County Agricultural Fair. The fair has announced that it is working with the Montgomery County Government to host a free COVID vaccination site at the event daily.


County Council President Tom Hucker Forms Exploratory Committee Ahead of Expected Run for County Executive

On Thursday, Montgomery County Council President announced he Tom Hucker has formed an “exploratory” committee ahead of an expected bid to challenge Marc Elrich for the County Executive position in 2022. Hucker currently represents District 5.
