The lights are off, doors are locked, and phones are ringing unanswered at Taylor Gourmet in Pike & Rose. Google lists the restaurant as “permanently closed” and employees at two DC locations confirmed the closing.
Taylor Gourmet returned to Pike & Rose in October of 2019, a little over a year after the brand announced it would be closing all 17 of its stores in the DC area.

Back on April 1st, we let you know that Bethesda Bagels would be coming to 14929-D Shady Grove Rd in Rockville, the former site of GameStop, in Fallsgrove (the GameStop location closed in January of this year).
This morning we spoke with an employee from the Wildwood location who told us that the location is hoping to open in the first or second week of January.
Beautiful venue; great art, gifts and hand-crafted items; refreshments; and meet the award-winning painters, photographers, mixed media artists, ceramicists, fiber artists, and more – some 40 artists in all. Pop-Up Poutine is opening at the Pike Kitchen food hall at 1066 Rockville Pike in Rockville this Tuesday, December 28. The Pike Kitchen location will offer an expanded version of their food truck menu.

According to site plans by H&R Realty, the Goshen Crossing shopping center on Goshen Rd in Gaithersburg/Montgomery Village will be adding new restaurant space that includes a drive-thru. The proposed restaurant will be built over a portion of the existing parking lot.
The shopping center is anchored by a Giant grocery store and also features a Montgomery County Liquor store and Pizza Bolis. Diego’s World, a new food truck offering a variety of Latin cuisine, recently opened at the Sunoco gas station in the center.

On Thursday, December 23, Metro’s General Manager and Chief Executive Officer Paul J. Wiedefeld paused the return of additional 7000-series railcars to passenger service, ordering a new regime of daily 7000-series inspections.

Back in the 1980s, a law was passed which prohibited booze from being sold in Maryland grocery stores. At the time that this law passed, four MoCo supermarkets were allowed to be the exception due to a grandfather clause: Shoppers, Giant, Safeway, and Magruder’s. However, these stores are only allowed one location each to sell beer and wine. For a while, two 7-elevens in the county also sold beer and wine, but that permission was revoked after legal battles. Some specialty stores, that are also considered grocery stores, also sell beer and wine (Balducci’s, Roots, etc.).
Per Takoma Park Police:
One of the suspects was wearing a light blue Champion winter coat and the other two were wearing all black. All three suspects were wearing face masks. Items of evidentiary value were seized by police. Possible suspect vehicle is a black BMW with paper tags that fled southbound on New Hampshire Avenue.

Signage has been up for a couple months now at the upcoming Chopt location in the Kentlands neighborhood of Gaithersburg.
The new restaurant is located next to MOD pizza on Commerce Square and is now scheduled to open in January after Covid delays and permitting issues pushed the opening date back a few times. No exact date has been set yet.
