Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department Awarded BGE Grant

The Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department has been awarded a $6,500 Emergency Response and Safety grant from Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), as part of BGE’s Emergency Response and Safety Grant Program.

The BVFD says that this year’s Grant will provide vital training funding for their responders who answer over 5,000 emergency calls annually. The Burtonsville Volunteer Fire Department owns and operates a Heavy Rescue Squad, Fire Engine, Ladder Truck, and Brush Truck. Their station also houses a Montgomery County-owned Ambulance and second Fire Engine.

According to BGE, their Emergency Response and Safety Grant Program is an essential part of their commitment to supporting safety and reliability while also improving the communities they serve. BGE is Maryland’s largest natural gas and electric utility, delivering power to more than 1.3 million electric customers and more than 680,000 natural gas customers in central Maryland.
