Bucket Truck Crashes Through I-270 Barrier, Overturns

Around 12PM Tuesday, a bucket truck travelling on northbound I-270 near I-370 crashed through the concrete barrier separating the local lanes from the express/main lanes.

The truck, which caused major damage to the concrete barrier, came to rest overturned on its side. Some news footage showed logos of a cable and internet provider on the truck; it was unclear if the truck was owned and operated by that company or a contractor.

The driver of the truck was evaluated by Montgomery County Firefighters and Paramedics and had only minor injuries.

Several lanes were closed for cleanup Tuesday afternoon.

Two Ejected From Germantown Crash, No Life-Threatening Injuries

Montgomery County Firefighters and Paramedics from Germantown Stations 729 and 734 responded along with Montgomery County 5th District Police Officers responded to Ridge Road near MD-355 Frederick Road shortly before 10AM Sunday for a car crashed into a tree.

Crews arrived and found a sedan crashed into a tree with two of its three occupants having been ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Firefighters and Paramedics evaluated all three occupants; all were very lucky to have non-life threatening injuries.

Around 7PM Saturday, authorities responded to a reported overturned vehicle in the intersection of Frederick Road and Gunners Branch Road in Germantown.

A four-door sedan T-boned/broadsided a small gray SUV; the SUV came to rest on its side.

Firefighters and Paramedics from the Milestone Fire Station (MCFRS 734) evaluated several people with minor injuries.

Germantown-based Geyers Towing & Recovery handled the scene cleanup.

Two Suffer Life-Threatening Injuries After Beltway Rollover

Around 1:40PM Saturday, Montgomery and Fairfax County Firefighters responded to the Inner Loop of the Capital Beltway (I-495 North) between Persimmon Tree Road and River Road for a reported overturned vehicle. Responders found a vehicle that had ran off the roadway and struck a large, ground-mounted sign before overturning.

Firefighters and Paramedics evaluated 2 patients, both suffering from life threatening injuries. They were both transported to an area trauma center by Montgomery County Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians from the McLean Volunteer Fire Department. Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack Troopers handled the crash report.

Extended Extrication After Germantown Rollover

Around 5:30PM Thursday evening, Montgomery County Career and Volunteer Firefighters responded with Montgomery County Police officers to a reported crash on Seneca Meadows Pkwy near Goldenrod Lane in Germantown.

Responders arrived to find an SUV that had struck a tree and then rolled over landing on its side.

Firefighters and Paramedics observed the driver was still in their wrecked vehicle and had head injuries from the crash. Crews worked for more than 30 minutes to free the driver, who was then transported with injuries that were fortunately not life-threatening.

Driver Crashes onto Metrorail Red Line Tracks in Rockville

Around 10:20AM Thursday, a driver was trying to turn their Volkswagen into a parking spot in the 1100 block of Rockville Pike when they hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

Their SUV partially went through a chain link fence and hung, with part of the vehicle blocking the Red Line track from Rockville to Twinbrook.

The driver was assisted by bystanders as well as a Metrorail train operator operating a Red Line train (WMATA Train 104) in the other direction, from Twinbrook to Rockville.

No injuries were reported, however Red Line rail service was impacted.

Rockville City Police and Clarksburg-based Morton’s Towing & Recovery were coordinating with WMATA Metrorail Supervisors for vehicle removal.

As of 11:30 Thursday morning, Red Line Metrorail service was only operational between Glenmont and Grosvenor. Metrorail shuttle buses and Ride On buses were serving as alternate transportation in the MD-355 corridor between Grosvenor and Shady Grove.

Driver Ejected, Seriously Injured in I-270 Crash

Around 12:30AM Wednesday, a Maryland State Police Rockville Barrack Trooper was on patrol when he spotted a vehicle that had ran into trees and crashed on the ramp from Southbound I-270 to MD-355. The Trooper then discovered that the driver of the vehicle had been ejected and seriously hurt during the crash.

Firefighters and Paramedics then arrived and began to treat the driver’s injuries and stabilize the crashed vehicle which came to rest on its side. The driver was then transported to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

A Maryland State Police crash reconstructionist responded from the MSP’s Frederick Barrack to the scene to document the crash scene. The ramp from Southbound I-270 to MD-355 was closed for several hours early Wednesday morning.
