MCPS to Host Five Pediatric hCOVID-19 Vaccination Clinics This Sunday, December 12

During Wednesday’s weekly COVID-19 briefing, County Executive Marc Elrich recommended that the County Council, acting as the Board of Health, hold off on ending the indoor mask mandate, which is set to rollback when 85% of Montgomery County is vaccinated. This is partly due to the unknowns of the Omicron variant. Right now, the county has about an 81% vaccination rate and is averaging over 100 new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents a day.
The indoor mask mandate most recently went back into effect on November 20.

Gaithersburg Based Novavax Could Start Making Omicron-Specific COVID-19 Vaccine By January
Gaithersburg based Novavax announced that today that they could begin commercial manufacturing of a COVID-19 vaccine for the Omicron coronavirus variant by January of 2022. Novavax is currently testing whether or not its current vaccine works against the Omicron variant.

ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan today announced that, according to official CDC data, 99% of Marylanders 65 and older have now received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. The state continues to lead the region—and ranks in the top 10 in the nation—in boosters for seniors.
The governor also announced that the state has already surpassed 50,000 vaccinations for 5- to 11-year-olds.
