Lawmakers Want To Change Speed Limit On I-270 And Beltway In Maryland To 70MPH

Democratic State Senator Joanne Benson of Prince George’s County spoke in front of the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee today and said that slowing down to avoid a ticket can have a more dangerous effect than driving over the speed limit when it abruptly changes on Maryland highways.

The Senate Bill 55 would raise the speed limit to 70mph on all Maryland highways to create consistency across the state.
