Development Updates in Montgomery Village

The Montgomery Village Shopping Center
Construction is ongoing at the shopping center as it prepares for a whole new look. There will be an additional entrance to the shopping center at Centerway and Watkins Mill Roads, as Centerway would cut all the way through the shopping center according to the new plans. The project will include condos and townhouses. There is no completion date provided at this time.
Lidl
Lidl submitted a Preliminary Plan and Site Plan back in September to develop on two lots at the old Professional Center site across from the Montgomery Village Shopping Center.
The plan went to the Montgomery County Planning Board on January 30, during which public comment was received. At the meeting, the Planning Board approved both the Preliminary Plan and Site Plan.
North Creek Pool
Once the North Creek Pool is renovated (closing after the 2020 pool season and reopening for the 2021 season), North Creek Community Center will have some of the most diverse offerings available to Village residents: a brand new pool with a 140’ water slide, tot lot (replaced in 2015), two lighted tennis courts, three lighted pickleball courts and a lighted futsal/soccer court.
Montgomery Village Golf Course/Bloom Montgomery Village Development
Ground breaking on the site development work is now likely to begin THIS month, with the first model home lots expected to be delivered THIS Fall.
The approved plan includes 494 new homes (467 townhomes, 26 detached single family homes and 1 duplex), of which 68 homes will be set aside as Moderately Priced Dwelling Units (MPDU).
